Indonesia Visitor Visa 211 extension

For the German version please read here.
You read a lot of different information in the internet regarding the extension of a so called Visitor Visa 211 (that is 60 days stay without a sponsor). Is it possible or not? Well, I have just been through the process with an agent in Bali and it is possible and really easy (that is Juli 2015)
Since 2007 the Social (Sosbud) Visa and the Visitor Visa both have the same number (211) printed on. Which means if you can provide a sponsor for your Visitor Visa extension you can also extend it. Fortunately many agents in Bali will also act as a sponsor for your visa for a small fee. Here is how the whole process works for you:

  1. You meet an agent in his office or in your hotel. The agent will check your current visa, tell you if it is extensible and the price. Many agents can also be contacted via WhatsApp which is quite confortable.
  2. After you agreed on a price the agent will take your passport and hand it in with all the necessary form at the immigration.
  3. After 1-2 working days the agent will call or text you to visit the immigration office (see below). Where the agent or another guy will guide your through the process (they take fingerprints and a picture). The whole thing takes 10-20 minutes because you can mostly skip the queues if you have an agent.
  4. One or two working days later your visa should be finished and the agent will bring your passport to you.

I paid 800'000 IDR for a 30 days visa extension with my agent but head you can get it also for 750'000. If you want to try without an agent the exension price is 375'000 IDR.

Immigration Office location

Coming from Kuta, Seminyak or Canggu, the immigration office is not too hard to find. It is best to rent and ride a scooter to get there (no parking for cars). All you have to to is find Sunset Road (Jalan Sunset), while driving south, head straight for the tunnel direction airport, then Jalan Sunset becomes Jalan Ngurah Rai. Keep driving until you the really big roundabout, there go all the way around it, so you are heading back on the same street (just on the other side). The immigration office is then on your left side just after the first petrol station (Pertamina).
It is better to go all the way south and around the roundabout and then back north since you cannot cross the Jalan Ngurah Rai Street.
